The KSA was founded in 1968 by a group of sportsmen with the desire to develop a new shooting facility. An organizational meeting was held on March 9, 1968 with 12 people present. These 12 sportsmen formed the charter membership of the club. Officers were elected and the bylaws were written. The membership voted to join the NRA as an associate club and the official NRA club charter was received on April 17th, 1968.
The membership gradually increased and a modest amount of money accumulated, with the goal of acquiring land. The club voted to incorporate as a nonprofit corporation for the purpose of initiating a stock program. This was done and the club officially became incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania, as a member owned club in March 1970. Shares were then printed and became available for sale to the membership.
A search for suitable property was begun, and after looking at several potential sites, it was decided to purchase the 45 acres presently owned by the club. Development began slowly, and as money became available, Rifle, Shotgun, and pistol ranges were constructed.
A mobile home served as the clubhouse for almost 20 years. Gradually further improvements were made to the club grounds! Permanent restroom facilities were constructed in 1980. In 1991, construction on a new permanent clubhouse was begun with volunteer labor and was completed in 1994.
The club currently has a 200-yard rifle range with covered firing points; a 12 point Pistol range; 8 regulation trap fields with 5 fields lighted for night shooting. Also available is a newly constructed RV campground with water and electric hookup for 12 RV's.
The club is currently affiliated with NRA, ATA, NSSF, PSSA, IDPA and CMP. The different shooting programs available to the membership are: Trap - ATA league and practice; Pistol - IDPA pistol matches, Practice pistol league and NRA Safety & Personal Protection Course; Rifle - NRA and CMP high-power matches.
The current membership consists of 300+ Associate and Voting; and 80 Life members. The officers and members would like to thank you for visiting our facility and will be glad to answer any of your questions about joining our programs.
